Teachers at Anderson are preparing for a welcome innovation! They will begin a journey into project-based learning! Not only will they have the technology tools, from digital movie cameras to student laptops, they will also receive an incredible amount of training that will help transform the way they teach and the way our students learn at Anderson Elementary. This will all begin to be accomplished as Anderson Elementary was awarded a $150,000 Technology Rich Classrooms in May 2007. This Grant is funded partly through the district but the bulk of the grant is from Title IID, Enhancing Education Through Technology.
 
This grant was written to help Anderson find ways to raise student achievement in reading. This grant will enrich this learning and will help us become a technology rich school in which all students in the technology rich classrooms will have regular access to technology for learning. The function of a Technology Rich Classroom grant is to provide evidence that technology is integrated into all areas of curriculum and providing a Technology-Rich learning environment. This is then supported by intense ongoing professional development for teachers. The desired outcome is improved student learning across all curriculum subjects through the integration of technology.
 
 We have just begun to purchase equipment for the four 4th grade classrooms that will be a part of this grant. We have a strong team of classroom teachers already spending their summer planning the curriculum for next year. We have a facilitator and instructional coach assisting in planning as well. This is all brought together by a very supportive administrator in our principal Laura Thompson.
 
 Our 4th grade teachers and students have begun their August school experience by entering into a 21st Century classroom. Keep your eyes on our school as we walk into the world of 21st Century education!
